FnA Gallery

Between Piero Fenci’s art career and my creative search we have been making art for over 90 years. The two of us have been working together for more than 20 years. Over the years we have tried to come up with a name for our endeavor together. We started with “Appleby Studio” which was named after the small town, population 300, that we live in. We never really liked the name as everyone associated us with the Applebee restaurant. So we changed our name to “The Red Pine Company” after my last name which means red pine in Japanese. This seemed a little one sided. Finally after twenty years we had an ah-ha moment! Our new business name is FnA gallery- after our initials Fenci and Akamatsu

The Idea

We have shown our work together over 30 times in different venues located as far east as Nantucket Island and as far west as Tucson.   I love two-person shows because the art becomes more alive with company!   There is a visual dialog that happens when 2 artworks by different artists are placed next to each other.  This website celebrates the connection we hold together through our art.

Style & Quality

Both of us believe in the high quality endeavor approach to life.  In everything we do and make we strive for beauty and the search for truth.  Piero has a simplistic approach to making art.  It’s not fussy or overworked.  He concentrates on a strong form and sublime glazes.  I am just the opposite. I work like a jeweler.  Form and surface become an art of precision and attention to detail.

Goal

Here you will see our personal space and the things that inspire us juxtaposed with our art.  The hope is that you will be able to experience our art more fully and to gain a richer understanding of what we strive for in our search for truth and beauty.  Don’t worry, if you don’t like this format, you can always go to our individual websites.                                   pierofenci.com                        elizabethakamatsu.com
